After having visited Longboat Key this summer and seeing replica coins
that are being sold in jewelry shops in that area, my wife became
interested in “the look” of the replica silver coins mounted in a gold
bezel. Knowing something of the Mel Fischer/Atocha story, I endeavored
to find out what the cost of a real coin might be that I could present
to her for our anniversary. I was pleased to find your website and to
know that the coins and other artifacts offered for sale are certified
and very real pieces of history. Thanks for your expeditious shipping
of the Atocha “piece of eight” that I ordered to have in time to give my
wife as my anniversary present to her. The coin arrived in one day and
Fed Ex was not required. My wife is delighted with the 8 real coin as
am I. Both of us were surprised at the “heft” of the coin and I didn’t
realize that it was such a large coin (that’s a good thing). My wife
was very intrigued with the historic significance of the coin and the
history of how it, and the rest of the treasure of the Atocha, came to
be discovered and the amount of effort and time that was expended in the
hunt and discovery of the Atocha. The coin is in very good condition
and it is very cool to hold such a piece of history in one’s hand. |
